Posted by Ward Cedar Log Homes in Log Homes Step by Step GuideBuilding with Ward Cedar Log Homes; the Before, During, and After – Part Two
In the previous article we discussed what to expect before you build a new log home. Part two we discuss the during while building with Ward Cedar Log Homes.
By now you have made many decisions to help you get to this point. The during stage is where Ward will begin plan work. However there are a few items for the homeowner to take care of.
Plans
You have your layout in mind, estimates back, and everything fits within your budget. Now the fun begins by putting all of your features and ideas on a workable plan. With a plan deposit that gets credited toward your purchase price, Ward can start on your floor, loft, and elevations to send out for your approval. Once changes have been made by you, it’s time to continue on with the complete set of plans so you can secure permits and work on a delivery date for your new home.
Permits
When building a new home, it is required that you have a building permit and in some locations other permits may be necessary. Different states, counties and municipalities have different regulations that you may have to go by. In some cases, your contractor can help you navigate through this process.
Equity
Are you handy in some of the aspects of building? If you are then one of the benefits of that is you may have the opportunity to build equity in your new home by doing some of the work yourself. Some homeowners will have a contractor handle getting their new home weather tight and then they will do the interior work themselves. Maybe you can run a piece of equipment and decide to dig the foundation hole and backfill yourself or you take care of the painting/staining. Whatever tasks you can do, you not only save money but you build equity at the same time.
Quality Assurance
Ward Cedar Log Homes want you to be completely satisfied, so you can depend on us to keep close track of your home-building project. Up to seven different quality control reports will be completed and sent to our corporate office from your representative during the construction of your home. These reports allow us to ensure that your plans are being executed as you envisioned and your new home project is running smoothly.
Stay tuned as we head to the final part “the after”.
